How We Rate
This page explains where the facts on this site come from, what we check on every casino page, and what we refuse to do. It is written for players in Great Britain who want to know how much weight to give what they read here.
Where the information comes from
We work from primary documents, not from hearsay. For each casino we read the operator's own website, the bonus terms, the general terms and conditions, the payment pages and the licence register entry where one is published.
Each fact is tied to one of these sources. If we cannot find a detail in them, we leave it out rather than guess. Player comments are treated as opinion and are kept separate, for example on the reviews page.
What we check and why it matters
The same list is applied to every page, so casinos can be compared fairly. Each item is there because it affects money, safety or convenience for a player in GB.
- Licence and ownership: who operates the site, and whether the regulator's register confirms it. This decides what protection and complaint routes you have. See our licence and safety check.
- Bonus value and wagering: the headline percentage means little without the wagering multiple, minimum deposit, maximum bet and expiry. We record all of them.
- Deposit and withdrawal methods: some methods work in only one direction, and that affects how you get money out.
- Limits and payout times: per-transaction caps and stated processing times, as published by the operator.
- Game selection and providers: the number of games, the studios behind them and whether live tables are included.
- Customer support: which channels exist, their stated hours and the languages offered.
- Responsible gambling tools: deposit limits, time-outs, self-exclusion and links to independent help.
A welcome offer might be listed as a 175% match with a £20 minimum deposit, 40x wagering on the bonus, a £2 maximum bet and a 7-day expiry. We would record every one of those numbers, because a 7-day window and a £2 bet cap change how realistic the offer is. Details for the current offer are on the bonus page. This is an illustration of the process, not a verdict here.
When sources disagree
Operators sometimes show different figures in an FAQ, a promotion banner and the full terms. In that case the full terms and conditions take priority, because they are what the operator would rely on in a dispute.
If two documents conflict and we cannot settle it, we say so on the page and give the range or both versions. Currency differences, such as a limit quoted in euros on one page and pounds on another, are flagged instead of silently converted.
How often pages are re-checked
Terms change without notice, so no page should be treated as permanent. We re-check pages against the operator's current documents and update them when something differs. A page may still lag behind a change made very recently.
Before you deposit, confirm the figures on the operator's own site. If you find something here that is out of date, tell us and we will check it against the source.
What we do not do
- We do not accept payment to change, soften or remove a fact.
- We do not present a bonus as risk-free or suggest gambling is a way to make money.
- We do not state anything about a casino that we cannot trace to a source.
- We do not claim tests, interviews or credentials that we cannot show.
Gambling carries a risk of loss. Set limits before you start, and if play stops being enjoyable, use the operator's self-exclusion tools or contact GamCare on 0808 8020 133.
